Yes — EPR registration is mandatory for every PIBO operating in India, regardless of company size. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) maintains a centralised online portal where all registrations and credit transactions are tracked.

Registration requires basic KYC (PAN, GST, CIN), plastic packaging data for the past three years, and category-wise classification.

Failure to register attracts environmental compensation and, in severe cases, restrictions on doing business. Many large brands now ask their vendors to share EPR certificates as part of onboarding.
